Posted On July 7, 2021
In 2018, FIFA introduced the new format of a World Cup, in which each country competes in a series of matches, and the top four teams in each round of the tournament advance to the next round of matches.
As of March 3, 2018, the top two teams from each group stage of the World Cup in Brazil, Russia, Chile and Argentina, along with the top three teams from the quarterfinals, have qualified for the 2018 World Cup.
In 2018 there were more than 1,600 matches and over 50,000 minutes of soccer action, and it’s expected to be the most important event of the year.
As FIFA’s CEO Jerome Valcke has said, the World Cups “represent the pinnacle of sportsmanship, integrity and commitment to the game.
The best teams play their best, and they play for their country.”
There are currently three World Cups: the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia from June 5-12, 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cups in Qatar from June 25-Aug. 7, 2022.
Both events were played in the United Arab Emirates, which hosted the last of the three World Cup events in 2018.
The 2018 FIFA Women’s World Cup has been held in Qatar since June 7, 2019.
It is the first time the FIFA World Championship has been played in a country outside of the United States, and was originally hosted in Canada, but it was relocated to Qatar in 2022.
The FIFA Men’s World Championship, which is scheduled for September 10-17 in Canada and Mexico, will be the third time a men’s World Series has been staged outside of North America.
In addition to the World Championships and the Men’s Finals, the Women’s Copa America, a tournament that is held every four years between June 20-27 in Brazil and Argentina that has been run for 30 years, is also being held in 2018 and will be played in Argentina.
There are three major international events on the calendar in 2018, with the United Kingdom hosting the 2018 Commonwealth Games in May and the European Championships in September.
The U.S. hosts the 2018 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is scheduled to host the 2022 Winter Games in the same city.
FIFA also announced a new partnership with Google to launch a new global platform, the FIFA Mobile App, to allow players and fans to connect with the sport, and also launch the FIFA Social Network, a new app that allows fans to share experiences, share photos, videos and stories, and make friends and compete against other fans around the world.
