AEG and the AC Milan Football Club are working together to play in the UEFA Champions League finals in 2018, UEFA announced today.
The first leg of the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, scheduled for October 6-8 in France, will take place in Milan and will be televised live in Italy.
The UEFA Europa Leagues will feature eight teams from the top 16 of each division of UEFA’s domestic competition and the final will be played in the Milan Stadium, a venue that was recently renovated for the UEFA Cup final between AC Milan and Juventus in 2013.
Milan is a favorite to win the first leg, while Juventus is the favorite to secure the second.
In addition to the UEFA Finals, the competition will feature the UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Europa Super Cup, two of the most prestigious domestic football tournaments in Europe.
The two teams from Serie A are scheduled to play each other twice in the finals, on May 27 and May 29 in Rome and at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, respectively.
In a statement, UEFA President Michel Platini said the two clubs are “deeply excited” to host the UEFA finals and said the competition was “a new phase for the Champions League”.
“It’s a big challenge, with a lot of pressure, but we will do our best to give it our best,” Platini added.
