What we know about the Rio Olympics
Posted On July 20, 2021
World Cup 2019 is underway.
It is a grand occasion.
But we have to remember it also marks a time for the men and women in the United States.
We are a proud nation, and it is the duty of our president to make sure we all remember the sacrifices our men and young women have made in the service of this great nation.
This year, the United Nations’ human rights committee has expressed serious concerns about the country’s record on gender equality and its record of progress on that front.
And this year, as a result of President Trump’s executive orders, the State Department will no longer accept Syrian refugees into the United State.
These are just some of the things that we are concerned about, and this is the first time we’ve had a country go into a war in Syria and then come out with a positive assessment of the country and a commitment to help people in need.
That’s how the United Kingdom should look at Syria.
That is what the United Arab Emirates should look like.
That means taking care of the refugees and giving them the support they need.
It means getting rid of the weapons of mass destruction, the bombs, the bullets.
And that’s what the government of Israel is doing.
That isn’t the way it should be done.
That shouldn’t be done, and that’s why we’re going to keep pushing for it.
That will be the message of this administration and this Congress.
We will not allow another war to break out in the Middle East.
That war will not end until Syria is a safe haven for refugees and we know that Syrian government forces have surrendered, and we have the military and the political will to keep fighting against the terrorist group ISIS.
This is a time of great uncertainty for the United Sates leadership.
We’ve seen this with North Korea, with North Vietnam, with Nicaragua, with South Africa.
All of those were failed revolutions.
There was chaos, but they ultimately ended.
This administration is going to make the case for peace and prosperity, and they are going to do that with strong words.
They will also do that in an open and fair way, because the truth is that the world is more stable when leaders have the courage to speak truth to power and say what they truly think.
That should be our position, that it’s the job of the United states to be the leader of the world, to be a champion for the world.
And we are going do that.
And the message to those who oppose this administration is simple: We know what you want.
We know how you want it.
We have the power to stop you, but you will not be able to stop us.
I’ll leave you with a quote from my favorite former president, Jimmy Carter: The people who are going down are the ones who are most vulnerable.
The people that need help are the most desperate.
So when I see those that would say that this administration doesn’t care about America, when I hear those who say that the United nations values have changed, that is not the American way.
It’s not the way our country should be.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting a strong and credible administration that will support the interests of our great country. Thank you.
